We recently sat down with upcoming Hip Hop and Electronic House DJ, DJ Chris Cashius aka master Black Panda from Lephalale, Limpopo, who told us his journey in the music industry and the hardships of making it in the industry. Checkout the interview below:

Max: Can you tell us about yourself as artist, who you are, where are you from and the type of music or genre you?

DJ Chris: My name is Cashius Julius Moshopya, otherwise known as DJ Chris Cashius aka Master Black Panda, from Lephalale, Limpopo. I do Hip Hop and Electronic House music, and I like connecting with different artist I am also into acting and drawing.

Max: That’s wonderful, so what got you into music?

DJ Chris: When I was a 15 year old, I received a laptop from my sister that she bought for me as a present, I started mixing songs using Virtual DJ that’s when I noticed that I got some skills and mostly I was inspired by my role model Chris Brown.

Max: Any projects you have? If yes which one stands out for you?

DJ Chris: Yes, I am currently working on mixes.

Max: Oh okay, do you maybe have some links that you can share with us of your mixes?

DJ Chris: Yes, here it is:

Max: I heard you won best DJ at the GAMA Awards, tell us how did you feel when you got recognised for your talent?

DJ Chris: I was grateful for the opportunity and I realised that I have to push as hard as I can to be one of the best artists in South Africa and around the world.

Max: That’s great, so what year did you start djing and doing hip hop?

DJ Chris: I started writing my songs in 2011, but due to lack of studio equipment I couldn’t record, it was only in 2015 when I started djing.

Max: Any projects you are currently busy with? Upcoming album or single?

DJ Chris: Only a single, I don’t have release date for it yet.

Max: Okay, what message would you like to give to other upcoming artists, seeing that you’ve already won something in your career.

DJ Chris: I would like to say that they should work hard towards their craft, chase opportunities, connect with different artists and most importantly have passion for what they are doing cause “Nothing great in the world has ever been accomplished without passion and nothing will unless you do“.

Max: Great message, any other thing you would like to add that I didn’t ask in this interview?

DJ Chris: As an artist I like doing different things, so I am starting my own clothing brand soon, and I would like to see myself working in the USA one day.
